Marc Berman Financial Assistance Program

To help meet the emergency financial needs of people from our industry who have HIV or AIDS, Entertainment AIDS Alliance (EAA) established the Marc Berman Financial Assistance Program, or “Berman Fund”, in honor of its founder, in 1995.

Even in today’s world of protease-inhibitors and drug cocktails, HIV and AIDS can still be debilitating and disabling diseases. And, even the most rudimentary pharmaceutical treatments are very expensive. Since its inception, the Marc Berman Financial Assistance Program has helped hundreds of individuals within the Entertainment Industry and has provided emergency assistance grants totaling more than $120,000 to date.

The program is administered by Los Angeles-based Aid for AIDS, one of the country’s leading programs offering direct financial assistance to people with HIV and AIDS.

“There are significant numbers of individuals who currently work – or have previously worked – within the Industry who need assistance in paying their bills,” note EAA Co-Founders Jeff Jenest and Vallery Kountze. “Many just don’t know where to turn, and we want them to know that help is available.”

To apply for assistance, contact Aid for AIDS at (323) 656 1107 extension 2101, and express interest in the Marc Berman Financial Assistance Program. You will then be asked to provide the following information:

  • Proof of current or former employment in the entertainment industry, in any capacity, in any job function, ranging from companies engaged in film, television, music, theater, stage, electronic gaming and/or web based content development, production, and/or distribution to their creative partners and affiliated supply chain members such as (but not limited to) Design, Advertising, Public Relations, Promotion and Marketing companies; Authoring, Duplicating, Digital Distribution and CD/DVD pressing facilities, Print and Packaging suppliers and/or Fulfillment companies.

Please note that this process and all information submitted to Aid for AIDS, is strictly confidential. Likewise, the identity of all applicants and beneficiaries of the Marc Berman Financial Assistance Program will not ever be disclosed to EAA or to any third party at any time.
